Starcloud, formerly Lumen Orbit, builds satellites carrying NVIDIA GPU clusters in low Earth orbit, powered by solar arrays and cooled by radiators that reject heat into space. It sells the resulting capacity as an orbital cloud service rather than processing only its own sensor data. Its 60kg Starcloud-1 satellite flew an NVIDIA H100 in November 2025 and ran AI training and inference in orbit; the larger Starcloud-2 was slated to fly later in 2026 and had not launched as of August 2026.
Ecosystem functionThe best-capitalised pure-play orbital compute startup and the only one to have run a modern data-center GPU in orbit, giving it flight heritage every rival still lacks.
