orbital data center operatorstartupprivateseries C+
Axiom Space, best known for commercial space station modules, runs a separate Orbital Data Center programme deploying free-flying satellite nodes that carry processing hardware and link out over Kepler Communications' laser relay network. Nodes run on solar power and reject heat through spacecraft radiators, processing satellite and defence data on orbit instead of downlinking it raw. It tested an edge-processing prototype aboard the ISS in 2025 and launched its first two dedicated ODC nodes on 11 January 2026.
Ecosystem functionOne of only two players with named orbital data-center hardware actually flying, and the only one able to fold it into a crewed, serviceable station architecture.
